survey report

I. Introduction
Health is becoming a big problem and many more people pay attention on their health than before. In fact, people have noticed the problem. They choose to do exercise to keep healthy. They know doing physical activities is the best way to keep healthy. However, for some people, they always smoke. Most of them smoke half a pack per day. According to Seal (1988, p.35), “Smoking has been conclusively linked to many other diseases as well, including bronchitis, emphysema, larynx cancer, and pancreatic cancer.” That’s very bad for their healthy. So these people, they should quit smoking and do more exercise. Today many young people get more study and stress, sometimes they forget to do exercise. So we will do a survey in SIU to ask about them health.

II. Purpose
The purpose for us in the survey is to know more information about people’s health. We want to know what percent of people do physical activities among the young people and how often they do exercise. We want to know they have pain or not, for example, we asked them “do you have chest pain when you do not physical activity?” We also researched the smokers. We care about what do they think about their healthy. We also asked them about their BMI (body mass index). It’s a good way to judge they are healthy or not. Gyo, Young and me worked together to find out the questions.
III. Hypothesis
I think most of young people like doing exercise. While the different is how often did them do. I guess there will not so many people can have chest pain when they aren’t doing physical activities, because there are young. However, I think most young people smoke because study stress. And some people can tell us their BMI. I guess the reason is they don’t know about that or they think it’s provided information.
IV. Materials
We have the survey papers. And we put five questions and one optional question on the list. We asked the question to know about them health. Such as, do physical activity or not, smoke or not. The only optional question is about their weight and height. It’s a good way to see their basic situation about health.
V. Methods
We asked 21 people in student center, Faner Hall and outside of Fanerhall. Most of them are students, and others are people working inside. Some of them are Americans, some of them are international student. They are very kind to spend some time to help me do the survey. They answered the question patiently. We had a good interview.

VI. Data
See appendix A and B

VII. Results
According to the appendix A and B, we can see that 100% of male do exercise, and 70% of female do exercise. About 33.3% of people had chest pain when they aren’t doing physical activity, while 66.6% of people were not. 45% of male felt pain during exercise, 20% of female felt pain during exercise. Avery small percentage (1%) of people were losing balance during exercise. 33% of people were smoker out of the whole people, and they were smoke average half of pack. 75% of smoker were male and 25% of smoker were female. Most of people didn’t know about their BMI, but according to their information (height, weight), we realized average of BMI. Male’s average were 23.5, Female’s average were 18.2.

VIII. Conclusions and Discussion
Most of my hypothesis and the results are very closed. It’s true that most people like doing exercise to keep healthy. But the one point surprised me is that there are about 70% female like doing exercise and they some of them can do every day. It’s not common that people can get chest pain when they aren’t doing physical activity. And few people few people ever lost consciousness. However, the percent 33% for people that are smokers is much lower than I guessed before. Maybe people the percent has gone down because people pay more attention on health and prefer doing physical activity to smoking. So more people do exercise than before and less people smoke than before, people want to be healthy, that’s a good thing that we found out from the survey.

The Best School Memory

When I imagine my school life, the memory of high-school is coming up. What remains in my mind is having played soccer on my high-school team. Of course, I studied well in classes, but for most teenagers, studying is a boring and a tiring subjects.I joined the high-school soccer team and practiced soccer after class almost every day. Although the practice and the training were so hard and also I didn't become the starting eleven, regular player, I had a lot of fun with my teammates. I spent the most time with them, after the practice, weekends, and holidays. Therefore, I have never met friends better than them. And now we still spend some time talking about those days.

My Students' Best School Memories

Our EAP1 Core class wrote about their favorite school memory. Some of them wrote about elementary school, others about high school and a few about a university experience. It was fun for me to read them. The day after these were written, we discussed them. It was fun to hear about each other's memories. I hope you enjoy reading about their memories.

My Best School Memory

My best school memory that I remember is in my university. I always went to the beach or a B.B.Q. with my friend. Sometimes we also skiped class to sing in K.T.V. It was impressive that we did that we did several activities in one day. I still remember what we did on a special day.First of all, we gathered some classmates and started the B.B.Q. in the afternoon. When we finished the activity, my other classmates invited us to celebrate a girl's birthday in the K.T.V. room. So I went with my group. We sang a lot of songs and drank many beers, then everyone became drunk. At 12 o'clock p.m., someone suggested to go to a pub. Thus, a group of drunks got in the taxis and continued to drink and dance. In the end, we went back home at 5 o'clock in the morning. Of course, we skipped class that day. I think it was crazy, but it is also beautiful memory. Clark

My Best School Memory - Young

I was interested in rock bands when I attended University. Fortunately, there was a rock band there, so I joined it. The first time it was very difficult for me because I was not good at music. Especilly I was not able to produce correct beats even though I was a drummer. That was why I had to practice hard every day. When I made a mistake during the playing, my friends who played other instruments like guitar, bass, and keyboard blamed me, so sometimes I regreted that I joined this club. However, later I felt that I couldn't be happier than then, just after the performance in front of audiences. I had had performances many times before I went to the army. I suppose it was the best time in my school life.

My Best School Memory

All the schools that I had attended during my life time were great, I have liked all of them. Even thought high school was difficult, the high school experience was the best. I liked this school because it had many activties and it had many teachers who could explain the supjects well. Another reason why I liked this school is friendship. I made a lot of friends in the high school and they are the best friends in my life.

My Best School Memory!!

I had a fantastic life when I studied in college. I took part in many activities. Camping was one of the best things that I hadn't alone before. I met lots of new friends, danced and sang songs. Karaoke is the most important contest in my department. I love singing, so I attended the contest to overcome my nervousness and shyness. Even if I didn't win the contest, I still felt it was valuable. Basketball is one of my favorite sports. I also joined many basketball games, and won medals. I joined the sports club of the department. My classmates and I held many sports contests, like basketball and volleyball games. We made lots of posters and handbills to attract everyone. My college's life allowed me to meet lots of friends and win contests successfully. I hope the time could return one day.

My pleasant memories.

I lived with my grandmother and grandfather who was a principal of an elementary school in 1985. My first school grade started there. The name of the city is "Kyuong-Ju" and I lived in the suburbs of the city. My town was in the countryside. The bus ran between downtown and my town twice a day in the morning and evening. The residents were farmers and the only telephone was in the school. The phone rang for someone and a teacher had to tell the people by a loud speaker.
My grandma taught me the Korean language and Arithmetic, and my grandfa climed mountains with me. After school I went to a mountain and played in a field while catching bugs, frogs and eating fruits on the tree, herbs I did not know the name of. In the summer I went swimming with my friends in the small pond, and sledded or skated in the lake and flew a kite in the winter.
I grew up with nature and my childhood still remains in my mind as pleasant memories. Sang Yeob Lee

My Best School Memory

Since the first day I entered middle school, it was very different from elementary school. Everything was special and very exciting to me. New school, new teachers and new friends made me expect so many fun experiences, especially sports. During my middle school, I could choose some special sports that I had never tried before, such as, cycling, judo and archery. Although sometimes it was hard for me to do both studying and playing sports, it gave me a lot of wonderful memories and I could learn sportsmanship through each of those sports. I enjoyed my middle school priod and I am very happy that i could have such a good memory in my life. Therefore, this id my best school memory.

Playing basketball is he happiest thing in my life. When I was a freshman, one of my friends,Ada,we had the same interest, and I played basketball almost every night. When we were sophomore,we had a team for our department, and we started to attend many kinds of contests just for fun. However, between winning and losing,we got a lot of experience and we had strong determination to win.We found any possible chances to play friendly games, not only practing and training but also learning and improving. The third year we finally got the girl's basketball championship on campus.Until we graduated,we still kept our championship status. This is the memory in my school life.

My Best School Memory :-)

I have a lot of good memories when I was in shool. But the most memorale memory is the fact I could meet my coach whose name is Kim ki-hoon. He was on the national team as a javelin thrower and also the throwing team coach for over 10 years. But somehow he came to my high school as our new coach. I was so glad to see him and excited so much. I was on the track and field team, javelin thrower since I was 14years old. I knew him because he was my hero. After I trained with him for 1year I was always best in the competition. Finally I was able to enter a unniversity which is named the Korean National Sports University. I got approval from the university and while I was waiting to enter the school, I had another chance to compete in Thailand. I received a medal from the competition again. Everything that I've done is becasue of him. I had all the good opportunities through him. I want to thank him again and I think I would never have done these things without him. So I can say the fact that I met my highschool coach is my best school memory.
